Image Compression

No two ways about it.  Smaller file size for images means they load faster.  These online tools, or Wizards, for compressing GIF & JPG images will not change the size of the image, but lower how many bytes are in the image file.

These Free Image Compression Tools are provided through our association with Spinwave.com.  After comparing other online gif/jpg compression tools and wizards, Spinwave produced much better results.  This also applies to the software you can purchase from them, for compressing gif/jpg images, right on your hard drive.  Try out their software and compare, I did.  Which is another reason it is offered here, because it works very good.

Less bytes = smaller file size.   Smaller file size = faster loading.

   Instructions

File Path
This is where the image file you want to compress, is located on your hard drive(s).  You can only upload a file that has the "gif or jpg" extension.  This means you must be able to see the last three letters of the file. (i.e., file must end with: .gif or .jpg)

To find the file, use the "Browse" button.  A small window will open and allow you to search for an image file you can compress.  Upload and compress one file at a time.

Once you have found the desired image, use your Mouse to highlight it by clicking on it.  Then, in the same window, click the "Open" button.

The window will then close and you are back at this page.  You should now see the path, to the image you want compressed, showing within the "File Path" area.

You are now ready for the compression stage and only need to click the "Crunch" button to start.

"Do not compress Animated GIF images."

Animated GIF images are made up of more than one image.  This tool is designed to compress "one" image at a time.  It will not work with a file containing a multitude of images.
